Cascade Cycling Crit (Horner Foundation)

The Cascade Cycling Classic Criterium is a one-day, closed-course bike race through downtown Bend, revived by former pro cyclist Chris Horner and his wife Megan after the multi-day Cascade Cycling Classic went dormant. It now serves as the primary fundraiser for the Horner Cycling Foundation, Oregon's largest junior road cycling team, which provides free development training to Central Oregon kids regardless of family income. The race pulls professional and amateur riders alongside a Kiddie Crit and community races, drawing some of the biggest crowds of any cycling event in the state.

Project Goal

To drive race registrations and donations through digital ads built on the story of the Foundation's junior riders, not just race-day spectacle.

Project Details

Most cycling event marketing sells speed: the peloton, the sprint, the finish line. We built these ads around a different hook, the kids the race actually funds. Rather than lead with pro racers, the campaign centered on the Foundation's junior team, framing registration and donation as direct support for a specific, local kid's shot at racing rather than an abstract cause.
